The EuroPACS Association is announcing EuroPACS'98, its 16th Annual Meeting, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, October 1-3, 1998. EuroPACS is an European association of people involved in research, development, implementation and clinical evaluation of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems.
The EuroPACS Annual Meeting is a very active forum for information interchange from any country, encompassing all aspects of PACS, among universities, research laboratories, clinical users and manufacturers. The programme for EuroPACS'98 will include lectures, scientific papers, and a technical exhibition. English is the official language. (Courtesy English-Spanish interpretation will be available).
After an slowdown over the last few years, many new Picture Archiving and Communication Systems are being planned and installed. EuroPACS'98 is an excellent opportunity to learn and to share knowledge about this evolving technology.

Registration fee is 40,000 ESP, covering congress pack, abstract book, lunch, coffee breaks, and social events. A reduced fee (20,000 ESP) is available to EuroPACS members and residents/students (with accreditation letter/document).
The organizing committee has reserved rooms in several hotels with rates ranging from 11000 to 20000 ESP. Further details, and particular arrangements about accommodation, can be requested from the organization. October has a very high hotel occupation, so we recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible.
Bus transportation between the hotels and venue will be provided by the organization at the opening and closure of each day.
Barcelona is well connected by airplane, train or road. The airport is 15-25 minutes drive from the venue. Bus and trains run every 15-20 minutes to the city center. Getting around Barcelona is very simple: It has an excellent and cheap metro-bus system and very reasonable taxi fares. By October the weather is mild (12-22°C), but you can expect short but heavy showers.
