Hospital Materno-infantil Vall d'Hebron (Women's and Children's Hospital)

Vall d'Hebron Hospitals (VH) is the largest hospital complex in Barcelona, with 3 main hospitals accounting for 1450 beds, and several clinical, management and research facilities. It is a public center belonging to the Catalan Health Institute (ICS). It has an associated teaching area of the Medical School of the Barcelona's Autonomous University, and a Nursing School.

The VH Women's and Children's Hospital, with 450 beds, has been the testbed for several clinical experiences in digital radiology since 1986.

How to reach:

By Car:

Vall d'Hebron Hospitals are at the Vall d'Hebron street, a segment of the 'Ronda de Dalt' ringroad.

From any highway approaching Barcelona look for 'B-20 - Ronda de Dalt' ('Ronda de Dalt' is at the mountain side of Barcelona). Leave at exit 'Vall d'Hebron'. There are two large parking areas in front of the hospital.

By Train:

Barcelona is well connected by train from many cities from Spain and abroad. You will arrive at 'Sants Station' or at 'France Station'. Sants station is connected by Metro directly to main hotel's area (Line 3 and 5) and Venue area (line 3) (Line 5 -> line 3 connection: in 25-30 min., Line 3 only: 35 min.).

By Airplane:

Barcelona is very well connected by airplane. The airport is 15-35 minutes (15-18 Km) taxi drive from the venue or hotels (depending on traffic and location), and may cost around 2000 ESP (16 USD/14 Euro). Bus and trains run every 15 and 30 minutes, respectively, to the city center (Catalunya Square).

By Metro:

Barcelona has an excellent and cheap metro-bus system. Metro line 3 (green color) connects the hospital with the city center and Sants railway station. 'Montbau' station is better than 'Vall d'Hebron' station for your purposes. It is the last station of 'line 3' 'direction Montbau', just 15 minutes from the city center. Take exit and stairs at right to 'Residencia Sanitaria - Arquitectura' street. See metro details at the Small or large and updated Metro network maps)', visit the official Metro site, or check travel times by Detailed Metro locator by Univ. Jussieu, France).

We recommend you purchase a Metro card (10 travel=aprox. 800 ESP/5 Euro), if you prefer the Metro or Bus to move around the city.

Moving around the site:

The venue of the meeting, the Auditorium at the 'University and Management Pavilion' ('Unitat Docent - Pavelló de Govern') of 'Vall d'Hebron Hospitals', is at the back of the hospital complex. Preferred pedestrian or car access, either to VH Women's and Children's Hospital and/or Teaching Pavilion, is by 'Arquitectura street'. Follow the external wall up the gate of the Women's and Children's hospital.

For the venue, continue following the wall up to the end/top of 'Arquitectura street'. You will come to a large gate just in front of the University Pavilion ('Unitat Docent - Pavelló de Govern'). It's a 7-8 minutes' walk. See details on the Area city map) and/or print the info drawing.
